Hope to me is being optimistic, seeing my glass as half full and despite how things might look, believing that everything will work out and that something good is always around the corner.
What does Hope mean to you?
If you wonder why I ask, well it’s because
today is the National Day of Hope, and Epoh Ireti a luxury candle brand that I discovered
a few months ago, have just launched a rather fabulous limited edition candle
to support the day. It’s called Chocolate Oudh “The Hope Candle”
Now there is just something about candles
that I love, (good quality candles that is) and the luxurious way in which they
fill your home with warmth and a beautiful fragrance. And Epoh Ireti is one of
those good quality brands.
When I first heard about Epoh Ireti, I was
very taken both with the founder, her story and with the gorgeous candles
themselves. The name Epoh Ireti was inspired by hope. Epoh (is hope spelt
backwards) and Ireti (is hope in the Yoruba language) and incidentally the
founders name is also Hope.
Hope the founder decided to start the
company when she was pregnant with her son Lucas, and completely filled with
the hope of pending motherhood and the birth of new life. She wanted to have
more time to spend with her son and do something that she would not only be
passionate about but could also share with others, and that was how Epoh Ireti
was born, a company literally birthed in Hope. Such a beautiful story right!
Hope also makes each individual candle
herself and lovingly blends and hand pours each candle, so you really are
getting a candle made with love.
As for my Chocolate Oudh* candle itself,
when I received my carefully wrapped parcel, I was immediately hit with the most
incredible rich smell of chocolate, with a real depth of rich spice and oomph.
And that was even before I removed all the packaging.
It’s described as a “decadent blend of
chocolate and sensual oudh with nuances of sandalwood, warm amber and leather”
It has a wooden wick and burns for 50
hours. The Hope Candle is made even more special by it’s limited edition
chocolate glass housing and the fact that during the month of April, 10 % of
profits from the Hope candle will be donated to the charity Hope Worldwide. The
UK charity arm focuses on overcoming poverty in the UK and oversees.
I have been burning my beautiful Hope
Candle for a few hours, and would describe Chocolate Oudh, as a little hope is
a glass, providing sweet scented hope in the flicker of a flame.
