Don’t you just hate it when you love
an idea or concept of something but you are left feeling really
disappointed when you finally get your hands on it?
Well that was what happened with the
Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser
I’m a big moisturiser kind of girl. I
cannot leave my house without moisturising my whole body from head to toe and I
hate it if my skin seems ashy or dry. I think this can only be blamed on my
childhood where my mum used to slather me in petroleum jelly and I would run
around completely shiny, slippery and “moisturised”. Well I have grown up since
then and moved on to much more sophisticated moisturisers but I still harken to
my childhood memories and slather on moisturiser everyday.
So anyway, I had seen adverts of the
Nivea In Shower moisturiser in magazines and had heard a few other bloggers
rave about it so couldn’t wait to try it.
The concept of being able to moisturise in the shower and immediately
dash out definitely got my beauty bells jingling. So what went wrong? Here’s
the review
Description:
“The first Skin Conditioner from Nivea.
A convenient new way to moisturise. Quickly absorbed wet skin. The caring
formula leaves you with a silky soft skin feeling when stepping out of the
shower. There is no need to apply an additional body lotion afterwards. “ Retail price £3.65
Pros:
The concept is great and it’s convenient
Cons:
It had mineral oil in it and is
quite light so I’m not convinced that it could replace a normal daily
moisturiser
Verdict:
Unfortunately it’s not for
me, not even on an I’m in a rush kind of day. First it has mineral oil as the
third ingredient, which doesn’t really do anything for the skin, instead it just
sits on top and isn’t absorbed – think Vaseline! Secondly it definitely didn’t moisturise
my skin. Once I was out I waited 10 minutes and did the scratch test. For any
newbies to the scratch test this is where you gently (I stress gently) run your
nail on your skin to see if your skin is properly moisturised and if your skin
is my complexion, darker or lighter you will actually see a grey line appear which
means not only are you not moisturised but you are most definitely ashy. I had
to top it off with my usual moisturiser as certain parts of my skin didn’t even
look moisturised thereby defeating the purpose. So unfortunately I had really
high hopes for it but I won’t be buying it again.
